It is told that while the earth was still flat, the first ruler of Vietnam, known only as ‘One’ feared chickens more than tigers, more than the gods, even more than losing his riches and power.

For three thousands years he banished chickens from his kingdom. Even whispering ‘cluck’ was enough to be thrown into the shark swamps to certain death.

One day, a travelling street magician named Qrunsch blagged an audience with the emperor. Playing to his vanity, he bet One he could not guess the spices used in his signature dish.

After a single bite of the delicious Vietnamese Fried Chicken strips, the emperor gave the magician a nine foot ruby cockerel with solid gold feet, and decreed that VFC would be available forever more.
